Just for point of reference from So. California: I bought my new '99 Savage a couple of months ago for $4,050/US "out the door" (includes tax, title, set-up, etc.)...don't be afraid to *negotiate* with the dealers (it's just like cars).
I saw several used ones ('96 - '98) with only around 600 miles on them that were going for $2,500 - $2,900/US. These were posted in "traderonline.com" and "recycler.com" if they're up in your area and you want to check them out. Good luck!
